Despite its advantages – getting information, spreading awareness, fun and learning, etc. – social media platforms have completely obsessed the new generation. We, as a nation, lack the know-how of using social media platforms responsibly. The young generation does not know how to use social media responsibly thus misuses their time and destroys their potentials and energies in useless stuff on social media. The new generation is more interested in getting more “likes and loves,” and is busy in the frivolous race of increasing their followers. One person owns multiple accounts on one platform and also on various of social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) to name a few. All this costs us a big price which will not only affect them but also every individual of the society. Social ethics, norms, values and other important religious attributes are almost gone and the new generation knows the least of them. They have been provided with smart phones without instructing and educating them about the responsible use of the mobile phones. They are not being taught with to know social values and religious practices need for mental peace, balance social order and a peaceful living. As a result, the new generation is going off the track. Parents, teachers, elders, educationists and the government need to take this serious and should use this potential generation positively so that they may play a positive role in the social, mental, psychological, political and economic progress of the nation.
