Feminism fundamentally means giving equal rights and opportunities to women as men. Despite this clear definition, some critics argue that feminism is merely a western concept and not really a third-world issue, claiming that there are bigger problems to deal with. However, this assertion is completely untrue; feminism is truly a crucial third-world issue. In third-world countries, a woman faces numerous complex and pressing problems which can be effectively addressed through feminism. To understand the depth of these challenges, consider how systemic inequalities manifest daily: girls are often not sent to schools as boys are, they are forced to enter into young marriages, they suffer from domestic violence, their voices are never heard, and they are frequently not allowed to go to work. Against these hardships, feminism serves as a vital educational and liberating force, teaching women that they possess the fundamental right to education, work, respect, and marriage. Public expression and collective action are essential for change. In Pakistan, one notable example of the movements through which women demand equal rights and opportunities is the Aurat March. Moreover, the advantages of this movement extend to the collective whole. In addition to this, when women are educated, it also benefits society. Ultimately, research supports this trajectory, as studies show that when women are empowered, their countries develop faster. This age-old adage offers a valuable lesson that hope, determination, and resilience can offer solace and encouragement during critical junctures of life. When there are challenging times, people take important or transformative steps to alleviate their problems. For instance, it is during the time of economic downturns that governments take radical measures and steer the nation toward economic progress and stability. The Great Leap Forward of China stands as a striking example in this regard. A lot of people died, but now China is the world’s leading economy. Similarly, Europe was entangled in wars throughout history. Then European leaders came together and pledged “no more wars”. Now, European countries are among the wealthiest. On the individual level, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Thomas Edison can also be cited as prominent examples in this regard. Nelson Mandela was persecuted and later imprisoned for 27 years for raising his voice against the apartheid in South Africa. Martin Luther King was harassed and later assassinated for his efforts to gain socio-political rights for the people of colour. Thomas Edison failed many times before inventing the bulb. However, at the end of tunnel, there was light. Apartheid in South Africa came to end, and Mandela became the first democratically-elected black president. The black people got civil rights in the U.S. Edison’s name was written forever in the books of history. Therefore, it can be said that one should not lose hope and face every situation with courage and determination. Only then dark moments will turn into light.
