Women, comprising half of the world population, have much potential in shaping a sustainable future. Empowering, not suppressing them, can surely bring drastic changes that will not only make their lives better, but also guarantee a sustainable future. Empowering women promotes gender equality, social justice and equal civil rights. It results in economic growth, poverty reduction and establishes a holistic approach towards social and economic prosperity. Like men, women can also play an important role in the conservation of nature and preservation of natural resources. Empowered women not only transform their lives, but also play positive roles in their families, communities and societies leading to broader social well-being and profit. For instance, Malala Yousafzai is one of the leading women who has been playing a key role in bringing awareness and social change across the globe. She speaks up for women empowerment so that women could utilize their expertise and potentials in bringing a positive change in the social and political areas. Angela Merkel, the former chancellor of Germany, is another notable figure who stood for women’s empowerment and their true emancipation. To sum it up, it can be asserted that women empowerment is directly needed for sustainable future in terms of social, political, economic and ecological improvement.
